Private Sector Working Group in Luang Namtha Province

Luang Namtha province – 15 December 2022 – The Luang Namtha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) organized the Private Sector Working Group supported by ECL project.

The working group was co-chaired by Mr. Bounsong Keomanivong, President of Luang Namtha Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Sangkhom Chansouk, Vice President of the LNCCI with total participants of 55 representatives (Female 15) from main business sectors in 05 districts.

The propose of this working group was to listen to issues raised by the private sector representatives and identify legal and regulatory constraints affecting local business. Then, these the priority issues will submit to the relevant public sectors for solutions and clarifications.

The chair and co-chair stated on their remarks about the importance of this working group as it is one of the important procedures specially improving the business environment that can facilitate and support the local business operation in Luang Namtha province. Although, they also emphasized on the continuation and sustainability of this mechanism will help to improve the provinces’ economy effectively.

During the meeting, the participants were actively provided and exchanged comments. Exclusively, the issues related to transportation, investment procedures, access to finance, tax, and etc., which will be collected and prioritized into a position paper for submitting to the related public sectors at the provincial level.

ECL Project is funded by the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). EIF is an Aid for Trade partnership in action for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Operational since 2009, the EIF is a multi-donor program that supports the LDCs to become more active players in the global trading system by helping them tackle supply-side constraints to trade.
