Code of Conduct and Action Plan for implementing Environmental Social, Health Safety (ESHS) and Occupational Health Safety (OHS) Standards, and Preventing Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC)
The purpose of these Codes of Conduct and Action Plan for Implementing ESHS and OHS Standards, and Preventing Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) is to introduce a set of core principles, key definitions and guidelines that: i. clearly define obligations on all government employees of implementing agencies, individual consultants and consulting firms with regard to implementing the project’s environmental, social, health and safety (ESHS) and occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, and; ii. prevent, report and address GBV and VAC within the working environment and in its immediate surrounding communities. The application of this Code of Conduct will help ensure the project meets its ESHS and OHS objectives, as well as prevents and/or mitigates the risks of GBV and VAC on the project. Mutual respect and fair treatment between those working on the project and local communities is critical to a safe, respectful, and productive workplace and operating environment. GBV and VAC can be one of the most serious violations of respect and fair treatment which can harm the local community and/or individuals working on the project in any capacity, and significantly damage trust and cooperation between parties.
